Sports Massage

Sports massage is for everyone, not just athletes.

Whether you’re an office worker with tight muscles, someone who enjoys sports and wants to recover faster, or simply looking for relief from everyday aches and tension, massage can help. Many clients also book regular maintenance sessions to stay flexible, balanced, and pain-free.

FAQs

Who can benefit from these treatments? (Do I need to be an athlete?)

No! You don’t need to be an athlete. These sessions are not for professional athletes. These sessions help anyone with muscle tension, soreness, or stress, from sportspeople to desk workers and busy parents.

Does sports or deep tissue massage hurt?

You may feel some pressure or “good discomfort” as tight areas release. This should never be unbearable. Always let me know if you need lighter or deeper pressure.

Will I need to undress completely?

No. You’ll only undress to the level you feel comfortable with that’s practical. Usually down to underwear and towels are used for draping so only the area being worked on is exposed.

What should I do after my massage?

Drink plenty of water, rest if you can, and avoid intense exercise right away. Gentle stretching and movement can help your muscles adjust.

Will I feel sore afterward? How long does it last?

Some people feel mild soreness or tenderness, like after a workout. This usually eases within 24–48 hours.

When can I return to training/exercise?

Light activity is fine the same day, but it’s best to wait 24 hours before intense training to allow your muscles to recover fully.

Are there any side effects I should know about?

Temporary soreness, slight fatigue, or increased thirst are normal. Serious side effects are rare, but let your therapist know if you feel unwell.

Are there any conditions where massage is not advised?

Yes. I’ll not be able to support clients who have recent injuries, open wounds, infections, fever, certain medical conditions like high blood pressure, or if you are pregnant. I’ll ask about your health history.

Can you work alongside physiotherapists, chiropractors, or doctors if I’m in rehab?

Yes – massage can complement medical or rehab treatment. I’m happy to work alongside your healthcare provider’s recommendations to support your recovery safely.
